dirty builder with lack of respect! angry s1 builders ltd norfolk

Taking pride in your work is one thing but clearing up is just as important in our companies moto. So when a local builder starts work on my neighbours house id expect him to clear up!!!! Oh how wrong i was....He put one dust sheet up to stop the dust from grinding out the joints of the house, never wore a mask which was just ridiculous considering the mortar was lime  based. dry cut the joints out so there was a major amount of dust!!!!
Even when people walked up my path (me included) did he stop? NO we just got covered in it. all my windows had open trickle vents so my house was full of this fine dust. the photos are a before and after he made an attempt to clean up.
  1. he left the job so i asked the neighbour where he was as i wanted it cleared up
  2. he came back and then gave it a brush over, never took the dust away
  3. i went beserk on the phone and had him back as my windows, plants, patio etc were covered in lime dust
My windows patio etc are still dirty but he is such a clown i will be doing them myself as three attempts is enough to rectify the mess.
the joints he cut out look a mess, are not deep enough and he used a cement based mortar to repoint the house . He even did it in the rain the other day?????
Now i am not one to slag any other builder off but this has tipped the scales past belief of what he expects to be ok. the companies name is given away in the lime SAND'S mix. aptly entitled as he left enough sand over my property.

Reference to go

Well another fine job completed and the boys mainly involved thanked.  This was the last string left on the violin before we jumped from the scaffolding.  Such a trying job, pushed us all to the edge and I'm sure that we have not fully got back from there yet....

Yours sincerely

Rising damp with S1 Builders ltd and heritage house

Rising Damp is almost non-existent - it rarely occurs naturally , and it CERTAINLY doesnt move a metre up the walls as 'damp proofing'  'specialists' would have you believe. We have built experimental walls with old, porous bricks, jointed with lime mortar. When the base of the wall is placed in water, the bottom row will get wet.  Water is wicked up the brick, reaches the first mortar joint and evaporates. It rarely if ever goes beyond the first joint unless it is 'bridged' by having cement render slapped over the top of it. It certainly doesnt go the magical metre high that every rising damp salesman will claim. Do you know that it has NEVER been reproduced in a laboratory, despite many attempts to do so - even by the industry itself.
  • Injection Damp Proofing old houses is a WASTE of time and money - it doesnt work, and it causes irreparable damage to the fabric of your house
  • Damp Courses are almost NEVER broken, bridged or damaged, as damp proofing companies will always tell you
  • There is almost always a specific reason for damp, which is easily fixed
  • Do NOT be talked into hacking old plaster off and re-plastering with gypsum, or worse still, waterproofing compounds, or so called 'waterproofing or renovating plaster'!
  • Nearly every case of so called rising damp is just condensation - the bottom of the wall is coldest, so moisture condenses near the floor - it doesnt rise!
  • If you have a rotten timber frame, its because of all the modern materials used to plug the gaps and cover it - sill beams covered with cement, wattle and daub covered with cement, silicone sealant around the panels and filling holes in the wood..
  • NEVER use cement, tar, cement render, modern acrylic or silicone caulking on a timber frame - it will rot in front of your eyes
  • Never use modern acrylic or emulsion paints - they are death to old walls - they are plastic - they trap moisture and cause damp.  Avoid Weathershield, Sandtex, Stormdry - any 'protective masonry coatings'.
  • Never use companies like Peter Cox, Timberwise, Rentokil, Kenwood unless they give you a full technical diagnosis of your problem using instruments OTHER than a damp meter, which they won't.

Great news from the "Home Pro" site which actually do speak to your clients and check up on you.

Oh no please read if you buy online

Having bought the new Samsung s7 along with a screen protector that was scratch proof, shock proof earthquake proof rtf from a retailer. I was truly  gutted when I caught the screen and it popped, screen protector still intact! Phone no longer worked etc so I contacted the company no reply to emails, phone calls etc then the website crashes with lots of blogs filled with manic electrical goods owners wanting a refund. But magically the company folded said good bye with our cash lol. I paid with a visa card clever me I thought...
So I called the bank filed a complaint, sent the pictures, held on the line countless times, lost my temper endless times, made voodoo dolls (made that bit up) but you get the picture... not pleased. Then 6 months later the HSBC send me this later. So I called skrill and basically got told to do one and tough luck.
So read the letter and be warned as there is no happy ending....

Yours sincerely
Stefan Nicholls

Dear Mr Nicholls

Thank you for your enquiry. Please could you let me know the name of your architect so that I can check whether (s)he is a member. The RIBA can only deal with complaints against its members and not all architects are members of the RIBA. However, all member practices are required to have a written complaints procedure and any formal complaint should be addressed to the practice in the first instance. Please see the following link to the RIBA Code of Professional Conduct: https://www.architecture.com/RIBA/Professionalsupport/Professionalstandards/CodeOfConduct.aspx

The RIBA’s powers are limited to the membership status of the member concerned. If you have a written agreement, there may be a clause on what to do in the event of a dispute.
The RIBA is unable to provide legal advice, however, we have a dispute resolution service whereby we can nominate an independent adjudicator. For this and further information on dispute resolution services, please see the following link: https://www.architecture.com/RIBA/Professionalsupport/Professionalstandards/DisputeResolution.aspx

Hello
The gentle man’s name is “John Evennett” Architect town and planning landscape consultant, church farm house, tatterford, fakehham, nr21 7az.
On his paperwork he is using your “RIBA chartered architect” logo and also he has piggy backed off his sons firm
Here is one of johns web pages showing your logo

the short story is we paid john on two accounts to provide drawings for a listed buiding project we are on. He submitted the drawings and planning have continually disputed the standard of detail and lack of information they have asked for. John has point blankly argued with them, said they are incompetent and he is right they are wrong. Subsequently th eplans have been refused, sent back to john along with the fees and they have said his work is not u to scratch. John has been doing tis for over 2 years now and made so many excuses. I even had him on any job and he did the same, the clients in the end said they wanted him off site and for him to never come back (there is more documented proof, the clients were police officers so not making a fuss). I have asked john for the monies back he ignores any attempt to return the clients money, blames us for the situation and so on, he is incompetent and argumentative, so I contacted an independent body to see if they could mediate for us. This just ended up in school ground antics so I ceased all proceedings and have now been asked to pick this up again by the client.

yours sincerely

Dear Mr Nicholls

Thank you for your reply. I can confirm that Mr Evennett is a chartered member of the RIBA. If you wish to make a formal complaint against him, you should take this up with the practice in the first instance. All member practices are required to have a written complaints procedure. I have taken this up with him and as he is the only member of his team I am led to believe then I’ve completed step one. Please correct me but if your limited to what you can do what exactly do you stand for? Your just a logo that’s actually not giving the client any sort of support and the architect gets to look like he is a member of an affiliated company that is there to look after the client. But this seems not so? I am a member of various parties that honour my work to the potential client and if I have a dispute against me they intervene and suspend my membership or annul my membership so I can no longer fly their flags on my vans or website.
Are you not accreditable for your members at all? What do you actually do or stand for then?
I have set about documenting everything that has happened so that the whole file can be used in court and we are in the process of starting a blog/Facebook page etc so this man cannot treat people like he is doing, surely your company does not wish for its creditability to be shown as a farce ?
As I mentioned I could be reading your emails wrong? It does come across like you’re not going to do anything so once again what is the point of the “RIBA”?

yours sincerely
