Bad customers not bad builders

The publicity against builders is overwhelming at times, with almost every builder tarnished with the tv shows press that just show absolutely ludicrous situations. A person handing £10 K over to a so called builder before he starts work, with no paperwork etc. just because the estimate they had was cheaper than a bona fide builder who had references. So who is the fool? With so many con artists and DIY/have a go heroes out there, is it any wonder these con artists exist, with people paying up front or just going for the cheapest estimate?? So apologies if your one of the "Fools" i have mentioned, but use  a company with accreditation, references, public liability insurance etc.

BUT my real gripe is why are there no "BAD CLIENT" programs? they should also be named and shamed like one of the clients i have, a total royal lunatic! Loves to moan just for the sake of moaning/complaining, but does not actually have anything to complain about. the "you tube" clips show just one of a long list of pathetic childish behaviour we have to endure. This is not just me being sour grapes, but after months on enduring countless demands i am looking into getting an injunction out against him because of his behaviour. No Person should have to endure relentless pressure from someone who seems to have severe mental health issues.
So maybe "Clients from HELL" would make good viewing for all those who have had to deal with clients that just never seem to be happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

one instance of many:
He said we wired up the light he supplied wrongly! its only got three wires and they were already in the wall, a trained sparky did this video with me to show the client that his light effected the other sensor lights and had nothing to do with the wiring. Considering they are on different circuits he have to have a problem with his wiring for them to effect each other.  Bad insults, bad emails, bad phone calls and late payments and not an apology when shown this video and still to this date the electrician has not been paid when he asked for him to come out.

This system is not just for old buildings, its usable on a wide variety of properties where stitching, timber treating,  over pinning, damp proof work etc is required.

Well after christmas and all that surfing through the never ending amount of bargains online, some people will find their pc's running a bit slow, pop ups popping up from out of the blue, websites in your history that you never visited etc. well a new problem is now "PUPS" not unwanted dogs after christmas but another pain ! "Potentially un wated programs" had a look through your program list lately? maybe a few that are not supposed to be there?
heres a free site that allows you to get rid of them! Yes apart from the "safe web" and a couple of other web associated creepy crawlies i did not know i had the "ADW" and "Junkaware" programs have now put my pc back to its youthful stage.

SI Builders ltd came promptly and gave a comprehensive and competitive quote. When it came to do the work, they did all that they had said they would, they worked to the budget and the extra costs incurred had been explained and were anticipated.  They completed the work within the time scales predicted.

The workmen were all pleasant to have around the property and worked well. They always kept the premises clean and tidy throughout and cleared up the site on completion. They came out on a Sunday morning to make secure and to sort out a problem caused by exceptionally strong winds on the Saturday night. .

On completion of the work they came promptly to sort out the only one small problem we had found after they had finished and left the site.

They handled some problems we had with neighbours very well and accommodated their concerns.

We would recommend S1 and we hope to use them again.

  Stefan completed a renovation on a bungalow for my parents. I live at a distance so it required a lot of careful coordination and good communication. We corresponded via phone and email more than face to face and I was consulted every step of the way. Stefan gave us a clear timeframe for the job and this was completely adhered to which was vital for us and in my experience quite unusual! His workers were efficient and tidy and able to adapt and get around problems when they inevitably cropped up. As the job progressed there were several additions that I wanted to make to the job and Stefan was patient with me throughout! This meant that we got the outcome that we wanted and my parents were thrilled. His aftercare also impressed me as he was on hand to respond to little problem-shooting issues and queries that my parents had upon moving in. Stephan was very good at advising me as to the right fittings to buy and kept me informed with pictures and texts of how the job was progressing as I wasnt at home while the bathroom was being fitted. I was very impressed with how clean everything was kept in the house which is a difficult task when building work is being done. Everything was cleared away on completion of the job and true to his word he finished the bathroom within 5 days despite one or two problems he encountered along the way.   Very courteous and efficient Good problem solver We have a 200 year old house and he has carried out a number of internal alterations and bathroom installations to a very high standard. We are a guesthouse and we get many favourable comments from guests AND the enjoyengland.com hotel inspectors. He has also recently carried out a major lead roof replacement ( lead roofer was his sub-contractor). A very professional finish. I am trustee of a grade 2* listed building and have seen a lot of leadwork done there. Stefan Nichols work compares favourably. They have just also replaced a pantile roof and had a lot of unforeseeable end gable renovation to do at the same time.Their no-fuss and non-extortionate attitude is very re-assuring when problems come to light mid-contract. Not so with previous builders we have known!!!! There was a lot of leadwork to do on this roof by way of flashing and valleys etc. Again, it all seems to have been done very neatly and professionally. His pricing is fair and does not change every day because of minor alterations or problems. And every job has been finished on time. Excellent news when you are running a business like ours.

New project coming up in fakenham - the star!

The pub is under offer now and the sale should go through next month, largest restoration job i've actually run and its going to be such a great project to work on. three floors, a massive garden to landscape, cellar into a games room, toilets into an annexe, out buildings into an office, every bedroom with an ensuite, new kitchen and the list goes on and on.
But i will have up for sale the entire inside of the pub, including seats, pumps, chillers etc!!!!

Initially we removed all the render then ! 

replaced gutters front and back

new lead work to bay window

decoration to all the windows and doors

installed the bellmouth and painted black

rendered the front and back

repointed the end gable and the flint work

installed the drainage to help prevent the wall staying damp

filled all the cracks to the interior walls and ceilings.
